We promised you that we’d Build a Better Merton Together - a borough that every resident is proud to call home.
At the centre of that is making sure Merton is cleaner, greener and safer for everyone.
We've done so much over the past few years to make that happen, from: targeted action to tackle fly-tipping, graffiti and chewing gum; to millions of pounds of investment in upgrading playgrounds and building paddling pools; to the installation of top-of-the-range CCTV cameras with better coverage.
But we continue to listen to your concerns and priorities.
And we are making sure we focus our limited resources into issues that you tell us matter most to you.
And that's why we are committing to these four key pledges this financial year.
We will:
- crack down on anti-social behaviour with a new permanent Safer Streets Team, running patrols in every neighbourhood, every week.
- tackle fly-tipping by expanding our pop-up tips so that every neighbourhood has one near them at least four times a year.
- make our neighbourhoods greener by planting 1,000 more street trees, starting with the areas with the lowest number of trees.
- make owning a bike easier by installing dozens more new bike hangars in places where people struggle to store a bike.
