Tree planting

1,000 more street trees

We will make our neighbourhoods greener by planting 1,000 extra street trees.

We are so lucky to live in one of the greenest boroughs in London. But we must do more to green the grey, increase biodiversity and clean up the air we breathe, in order to protect the future of our borough and our children.

We already have an extensive tree planting programme, that sees us planting hundreds of trees over the coming year.

And now, we are committed to planting even more – this time in areas where trees have had to be removed, due to damage or disease, leaving gaps called tree pits, and we’ll do this by starting with 1,000 trees over the next year in places with the lowest number of trees.

Planting season begins in October – and soon you’ll be able to search, using your postcode, if trees are being planted in a street near you.
