Overview

This page lists any current or planned tree maintenance work by us. This may include pruning, removing a defective branch or occasionally removing a dangerous tree.

For safety reasons we sometimes have to close paths during tree works.

Oak trees will be sprayed to control Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) by Advanced Tree Services. A second treatment will follow within 7–14 days (date to be confirmed).

Tree management will involve pollarding selected Cherry, Ash, Poplar, and Sycamore trees, and felling unstable trees for coppice rotation. These measures aim to reduce the risk of wind throw, tree collapse, and soil erosion while preserving root plates for stability. The works will also improve habitat value and biodiversity within the allotments.

A 3-metre strip along the riverside of the allotments will be required for machinery access, and plot holders will be given advance notice to avoid planting crops or temporarily relocate sheds near the riverbank. The Environment Agency has emphasised the importance of keeping trees stable to ensure river safety.
