Mitcham Carnival - A free, fun day out for the family. Expect a full day of entertainment with live music, dance and acts, a funfair, stalls and lots of food and drink
Sport and leisure
- Leisure centres - You will find activities for the whole family to enjoy at Merton’s leisure centres including swimming and other sports.
- Play Tennis - Home to the Wimbledon Championships, get playing with your young stars at one of Merton’s many tennis courts.
- Watch the Wimbledon Championships - Enjoy world-class tennis on the international stage. There are a limited number of tickets available each day. You can also watch on the big screens in Wimbledon town centre and at Canon’s House and Grounds in Mitcham.
- Cycling - Discover cycling routes around the borough. Adult and children cycle training is available to build bike confidence.
- Outdoor table tennis - There are 10 locations around the borough to enjoy outdoor table tennis. Bring your own paddles and balls and enjoy into the late summer evenings.
- Arts and crafts - Enjoy some creative time with the family with a range of free arts and crafts activities at Merton’s libraries.

- Morden Hall Park - Join in free guided history tours every Sunday. From 1940’s film star parties to the history of snuff milling, your family is sure to learn something new.
- Colliers Wood Recreation Ground - Check out this great park for a range of family activities, which has recently benefitted from a major upgrade.
- Mitcham Common - Discover some surprising and delightful gems about Mitcham Common. See if you can find Arthur’s Pond, Bidder’s Pond and the Bidder Memorial, and pay a visit to the Mill House Ecology Centre.
- Enjoy Merton’s parks - Take a picnic and explore one of Merton’s beautiful parks; visit natural play areas, a 140-wood at Canons Hill Common, feed the ducks at Wimbledon Common or spot the blue butterfly in Cherry Wood, Morden.
