How it works

If your application is successful we will send you a waiver notice to be displayed in the windscreen of any vehicle parked in the suspended bay or yellow line. A suspended bay can only be used by vehicles displaying waiver notices for the intended purpose of the suspension.

The suspension will be in place all day and night for the period requested. Any unauthorised vehicle found parked in the suspended bay (including those with resident or visitor permits) will be issued with a penalty charge notice (PCN)

If a requested suspension is no longer required, or works are completed early, let us know so that the suspension can be removed and vehicles can be parked.

Cost

Item Cost (from 1 April 2024)
Admin fee per application (non-refundable)£35
Parking bay suspension (per bay, per day)£35
Single yellow line waiver (per vehicle, per day)£35
Amendments (once paperwork has been generated)£35

The administration fee covers the costs of preparing and displaying notices.

Length of bays

One bay is approximately five to six metres in length. We recommend you liaise with the removals company to confirm the number of bays you need.

How to apply

You need to apply at least ten full working days before the start of your requested suspension or waiver.

You will need a credit or debit card to make a payment as part of the application process.

If applying for a yellow line waiver, you will need to provide the registration, dimensions and fuel type of all vehicles for which the waiver is required.

What happens next

To suspend parking for any length of time, we must be satisfied that the bay will be used for its intended purpose.

We will only call you if there are issues with your application, or we require further information from you.

Once processed, a notice of parking waiver (which relates to the suspension of bays) or a yellow line waiver, will be emailed to you.

You must print out the notice and clearly display it in the windscreen of any vehicle parked in the suspended bay or yellow line.

Signs and cones

Suspended parking bays are marked out by warning signs, which we aim to put up seven days before the suspension start date. Yellow line waivers are marked by signs only.

Suspensions for domestic removals are marked by warning signs and cones.

If someone else parks in the suspended bay, you will need to find somewhere else to park. We do not operate a towing service.

Whether or not you have a waiver, the vehicle must be parked without causing an obstruction, and you must move the vehicle if directed to by a police officer or civil enforcement officer.
