Based on the feedback received to the introduction of the part time pedestrianisation of the Village High Street (western arm of the High Street between the High Street and Lingfield Road) in August, to continue supporting the local business community as of 4 October 2020, we will be making a number of changes to the current arrangements. The new proposal is to facilitate the Farmers Market and the restrictions (access and parking) will only apply on Sundays 9am - 4pm.
This is of particular relevance during the current COVID-19 pandemic as the greater space afforded to the market in comparison to its previous location allows for less congestion and the opportunity for current social spacing standards to be more readily complied with by both traders and the public generally.
This new proposal is being introduced under a new Experimental Order and covers the same area as before: Village High Street (western arm of the High Street between the High Street and Lingfield Road).
Those with a crossover (dropped kerb) will continue to have vehicular access.
We and your local traders would appreciate your support in this experiment. We remain open to making edits or changes to the arrangements
