We have been successful in a bid to Transport for London (TfL) to fund accessibility improvements across the Borough. To improve pedestrian safety and accessibility to Stanford primary school in Chilmark Road it is proposed to introduce a zebra pedestrian crossing in Stanford Road east of Windermere Road as shown on the plan below. This will reduce the risk of personal injury and provide a safer environment for pedestrians, especially those attending the Stanford primary school.
To safely introduce the crossing, certain alterations to the road layout in the vicinity will be required.
These include kerb build out. This will ensure that suitable visibility is provided for pedestrians and approaching vehicles.
What happens next
A notice of our intention to introduce the crossing will be published in the local newspaper and posted on lamp columns in the vicinity. Any comments must be put in writing by no later than 16 October 2015, quoting reference Stanford Road ZEBRA addressed to:
