We have been successful in its bid to Transport for London (TfL) to fund accessibility improvements across the Borough. To improve pedestrian safety and accessibility to Aragon Primary School in Aragon Road it is proposed to introduce entry treatment in Lynmouth Avenue junction with Tudor Drive as shown on the plan overleaf. This will reduce the risk of personal injury and provide a safer crossing facility for pedestrians.
To further improve pedestrian access and safety, the existing zebra crossing in Tudor drive near Lynmouth Avenue will be upgraded, and therefore certain alternations to the road layout in the vicinity will be required.
These include widening the footway on both sides and the relocation of existing lamp column and the road markings will be refreshed.
This will ensure that suitable visibility is provided for pedestrians and approaching vehicles. It is considered that the combination of the proposed measures will increase driver awareness and improve the overall safety of all road users.
What happens next
A Notice of the Council's intention to introduce the proposed double yellow lines and the entry treatment will be published in the local newspaper and posted on lamp columns in the vicinity of the proposed measures.
