Introduction
To address speeding concerns, we are seeking to introduce road humps to assist in lowering traffic speeds in Robinson Road.
The benefits of road humps include improved road safety:
- Reduction of traffic speed.
- Reduced risk of collisions.
- Discourage through traffic.
- Improved perception and road environment.
Statutory consultation February 2024
The statutory consultation for the introduction of the proposed traffic calming will be carried out between 29 February and 22 March 2024.
A Notice of the Council’s proposals will be published in Wimbledon and Wandsworth Times and the London Gazette. Notices will also be placed on posts in the street.
Representations objecting to the proposals as described in this Notice, must be put in writing, either by email to Traffic.AndHighways@merton.gov.uk or in writing to the Environment, Civic and Climate Department, Future Merton, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX, by no later than 22 March 2024. Please provide full postal address and quote reference: ECC/RobinsonRd-TraffCalm
Please note that a statutory consultation is not a vote or a tick-box exercise. The Council is required to give weight to the nature and content of representations and not necessarily the quantity. Your reasons are, therefore, important when making a final decision. We would also welcome comments in support of the proposals.
All representations, along with officers’ comments and recommendations will be presented in a report to the Cabinet Member for Transport.
Please note that responses to any representations received will not be made until after the Cabinet Member has made a final decision.
Decision May 2024
Following the statutory consultation, all representations were reported to the Cabinet Member for a final decision.
After careful consideration, a decision has been made to proceed with the implementation. See the report and decision below:

The works will be carried out between 15 and 19 July 2024, weather permitting, and every effort will be made to minimise any inconvenience that may be caused. Information boards will be placed prior to the start of works, advising all road users of these specific dates. The construction work will generally be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
