As part of our pedestrian safety and accessibility improvements programme, we will be carrying out some improvements at the junctions of Lake Rd / Leopold Rd / Vineyard Hill Road.
The measures will improve pedestrian accessibility and safety, by building out one corner of Lake Road thus reducing the crossing distance for pedestrians and slow vehicle entry speed; reconstruction of the existing pedestrian refuge island in Leopold Rd; new dropped kerbs with tactiles in both Lake Road and Vineyard Hill Road to aid those pedestrians with visual and mobility impairments; and some new trees.
In addition, the existing single yellow lines at the junction with Lake Rd will be upgraded to double yellow. Please note that only this element of the work was subject to a statutory consultation notice, which was published in the local newspapers and the London Gazette with Notices posted on lamp columns in the vicinity.
What happens next
The works will be carried out between 2 - 12 April 2024, weather permitting, and every effort will be made to reduce this time where possible. Notice boards will be placed at this location in advance of the works, advising all road users of these specific dates. Temporary traffic lights will be in place for part of the work and access to properties will be maintained at all times.
