From Tuesday 5 November 2024, there will be a new online service for applying for and renewing parking permits from Merton.

You will be able to access the new service by going to our Parking Permits page from midday on Tuesday 5 November 2024.

Our current system (RingGo) will only be available until 11.30am on Monday 4 November 2024.

You will not be able to apply for or renew a permit online between 11.30am on Monday 4 November and midday on Tuesday 5 November.

Permits purchased before 5 November 2024

Permits purchased before 5 November 2024 will continue to be valid until their expiry date.

We will still send you a reminder to renew your permit shortly before it expires.

If you change address or vehicle or need to cancel your permit, see the following pages, which will be updated with new information from 5 November:

Your RingGo account

Your permits will no longer be visible on your RingGo account from 5 November. If you have an e-permit, you will receive an email or a letter with details of your permit’s expiry date for your reference. Your permit will still be valid until its expiry date.

Your RingGo login details won't work on the new system, so you'll need to register for a new account the first time you use the new system.

If you use RingGo to pay for on-street parking (pay and display) or off-street parking (such as car parks), you will still be able to use your account for this. See Pay by mobile phone for parking for more information about this service.

What you need to do

Resident permits

If you have a resident permit, you don’t need to do anything until your permit expires or you have a change of circumstance such as a change of address, change of vehicle or you need to cancel your permit.

Just like our current system, if you use our new system to buy more than one resident permit for the same address, you will need to pay an additional fee. The fee increases with each extra permit. The fee only applies if the permits are valid at the same time.

Visitor scratchcard permits

You can still use any scratchcards you have in your possession after we change systems.

The first time you apply for scratchcard permits on our new system, you will need to upload proof of address and wait for us to approve your application, which may take up to 1 working day.

You can apply for visitor scratchcard permits by going to the Visitor scratchcard permits page.

Visitor e-permits

If you have booked any parking sessions in advance on our current system, these will still be effective once we change systems.

If you need to book a parking session between 11.30am on Monday 4 November and midday on Tuesday 5 November, please call us 020 8545 4661 (option 2) and we can take payment over the phone and make sure your vehicle is covered to park.

The first time you apply for visitor e-permits on our new system, you will need to upload proof of address and wait for us to approve your application, which may take up to 1 working day.

From midday on Tuesday 5 November 2024, you will be able to book new parking sessions by going to the Visitor parking permit (e-permit) page.

Other permits (annual visitor permit, carer permit, business permit, trade permit, teacher permit, school safety zone permit or car park season ticket)

You don’t need to do anything until your permit expires or you have a change of circumstance such as a change of address, change of vehicle or you need to cancel your permit.

Blue Badges

Blue Badge parking permits for disabled people are not affected by this change, so you don’t need to do anything.
