Terms and Conditions Effective from 9 January 2023
All terms and conditions must be read and adhered to before booking and attending any courses, activity or event at Wimbledon Park Watersports Centre.
Acceptance on any course, activity or event is dependent on you correctly entering the participant’s name, and in the case of children (under 18 years) age, date of birth, ensuring all details are correct when applying for an age-appropriate course.
All applications are to be made correctly and truthfully.
Failure to do so will result in the right of the Centre to turn the participant away.
During your booking, if it becomes known that a participant is not of the correct age or ability when stated as an entry requirement, then they will be unable to continue. No refund will be due, and no recourse considered.
Once payment has been made, all bookings are confirmed and the terms and conditions are in effect.
- Changing facilities can be busy or limited so it is recommended, where possible, that all participants arrive ready changed in suitable clothes for the weather conditions, having already visited the toilet and washed their hands.
- Registration will take place outside of the centre. The centre does not take responsibility for the participants in the booking until completion of registration. Registration will begin no earlier than 5 minutes before the booking start time.
- Only the participant (and guardian(s) for those under 18) can enter the Watersports Centre operational area, all spectators are welcome to watch from the public benches.
The centre reserves the right to exclude participants at its discretion if their behaviour is endangering themselves or others, no refunds will be given.
It is the participants’ responsibility if they have suspected symptoms of Covid-19 to follow the current government guidance.
Wimbledon Park Watersports Centre reserves the right to run alternative watersports options based on the weather conditions on the day.
Please note:
- For all activities at the Watersports Centre - all participants must be aged 8 years or older at the start date of any activity. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
- During your booking if it becomes known a participant is not of the correct age then they will be unable to continue.
- No refund will be due and no recourse considered.

Children’s Holiday Courses
We must be notified at the beginning of the week at registration with a signature/email to wimbledonpark@merton.gov.uk from a guardian if participants can sign themselves in and out.
All participants for the children’s holiday Improvers and Intermediates Sailing courses need to be self-sufficient to rig, launch, recover from a capsize unaided and recover their own dinghy without outside assistance.
The centre reserves the right to exclude participants at its discretion if their ability is not suitable for the standard required, as this can lead to them endangering themselves or others, no refunds will be given.
Cancellation policy
- Courses will run regardless of weather conditions; refunds will not be given in the event of bad weather.
- Courses will only run if sufficient numbers are booked, a full refund will be given if a course is cancelled by the Centre, you will be contacted in advance of the course start date with the options available at that time.

Approved refunds will be processed within 3 weeks of confirmation of receipt of the refund request form and will be paid back onto the card the payment was made from.
- No refunds will be given unless for medical reasons supported by sufficient evidence e.g. a doctor’s note to be received prior to the completion of the affected course. Refunds will be given at the Centre’s discretion.
- In the event of illness or injury, refunds will only be given for whole courses; partial refunds for day/s missed will not be given.
- If we are notified
- More than 10 calendar days in advance of the course start date, a refund will be given less the administration fee of £50.
- Between 4 and 10 calendar days before the start date of the course, a 50% refund will be given.
- 4 calendar days or fewer before the start date of the course, no refund will be given.

Transfers
- Bookings are for the named participant only and cannot be transferred from one individual to another.
- It is possible, at the Centre’s discretion, to transfer a participant from one course to another course, for an administration fee of £50, subject to availability on the preferred course.

- All transferred places must be to a course with scheduled for the same calendar year as the original booking. Administration fees are per named participant per transfer.
- All administration fee payment links will be active for a maximum of 48 hours, any requested transfer of course places will not be made until after this payment has been received.
Small Group sessions (up to 5 participants)
- No refunds available.
- If notified in writing 21 days in advance, alternative date/ times might be given depending on availability and to be taken within the calendar year of the original booking.
Private Tuition
- No refunds available.
- If notified in writing 21 days in advance, alternative date/ times might be given depending on availability and to be taken within the calendar year of the original booking.
Parties
- No refunds available.
- If you cancel more than 21 days before the booking date, the Centre will endeavour to offer alternative dates and times, an administration fee of £50 will be payable to confirm the change.
- No alternative dates or times will be given if you cancel less than 21 days before the booking date.
- Any change of dates or times must be taken in the calendar year of the original booking date.
All British Canoeing courses, all RYA courses (except RYA Safe and Fun)
- No refunds available unless cancelled by the Centre.
- If notified in writing a minimum of 21 days in advance, alternative date/ times might be given depending on availability and to be taken within the calendar year of the original booking.
- Courses will only run if sufficient numbers are booked, a full refund will be given if a course is cancelled by the Centre, you will be contacted in advance of the course start date with the options available at that time.
Pay and play sessions - including family/adult/paddlesport/taster sessions
- No refunds available.
- No rearrangement of times available unless booking cancelled by the Centre.
- If the Centre cancels, alternative date/ times might be given depending on availability and to be taken within the calendar year of the original booking.
All online courses, including RYA Safe and fun
- Pay a one-off online non–refundable administration fee (regardless of whether you log on or not)
- Must be accessed/completed in the time stated.
Volunteering
- Pay a one-off non–refundable online administration fee (regardless of whether you attend or not).
