Equality Act 2010
The statutory Equality duty came into force in 2010. Schools must have their Equality information and objectives published on their websites and this should reviewed and updated annually.
Merton School Improvement has provided a toolkit and guidance for schools to create their documentation. You will find all these documents below.
Reporting racist, homophobic, biphobic and transphobic incidents
The recording and reporting of racist incidents is a focus for Ofsted and is an important feature of the Equality Duty. In addition, Merton LA is a Stonewall Education Champion and we promote the recording and reporting of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic incidents as good practice for schools.
We ask schools to report incidents to us termly using the forms shown below. Guidance on how to complete the forms is also below.
More information and resources relating to LGBT+ matters, see Stonewall's website.
For anti-racist educational information and resources, see Show Racism the Red Card www.theredcard.org/educational
