The Language & Communication (LC) Team provide guidance, support and training around all aspects of language development within the Foundation Stage. 

The team visit schools to model initiatives and support early years staff to provide communication-friendly environments and extra opportunities, such as small group work, for all children. 

The team provides training and professional development opportunities to empower practitioners in identifying children with an “at risk” indicator of communication delay and to effectively implement suitable intervention strategies to cater for the child’s needs. 

Support is provided to help engage parents in their child’s language development and with other external agencies to encourage a holistic approach to each child’s learning and development. 

The LC team is also developing all aspects of Communication, Language and  Literacy skills within targeted schools for 2012-2013 (MELLP). This will help support practitioners to raise the attainment levels across all the aspects of CLLD, including reading and writing.
