Introduction

Children in Year 9 can apply for a place at a university technical college (UTC) or a studio school. These schools start at Year 10, so they admit pupils who are 14 to 19 years old.

Through their association with employers and universities, UTCs and studio schools bridge the gap between the world of education and the world of work. They give students practical skills in workplace environments as well as traditional academic and vocational courses of study, focusing on project-based learning and technical subjects.

Merton does not have any schools that start at Year 10 but there are schools nearby that do. We are legally required to publish a list of these schools.
