Clarion Housing
In 2010 Merton Council transferred all of its tenant properties to the housing association Merton Priory Homes, which is now part of Clarion Housing Group.
A new generation of council homes
We plan to build 400 modern, comfortable and genuinely affordable new homes for our community - the first new council homes being built in a generation.
This ambition will deliver much-needed housing to meet increasing demand in Merton, because everyone deserves a safe and decent place to call home.
As part of phase one, 93 new council homes have received planning approval and will be built to include a mixture of apartments and family homes:
These homes will be located at:
- Elm Nursery Car Park, Mitcham
- Raleigh Gardens Car Park
- Mitcham; Land at Canons, Madeira Road, Mitcham
- Farm Road Church, Morden
Planning approval brings the homes in phase one up to the most current building regulations and standards.
They are being designed with ‘Passive House’ principles to be energy efficient and sustainable and reduce energy bills for tenants. This also supports the council’s plans to create a greener borough as part of its zero-carbon policy.
The developments are supported with a multimillion-pound investment from the Mayor of London’s Affordable Homes programme 2021-2026.
Locations
In the first phase, we are building in four locations:
Elm Nursery Car Park, Mitcham - A five-storey block of 21 flats
Raleigh Gardens Car Park, Mitcham - A five and six-storey block of 36 flats
Canons Place, Madeira Road, Mitcham - A three-storey block of 11 flats, and seven three-storey townhouses
Farm Road Church, Morden - A four-storey block of 15 flats with three-storey townhouses
