Fly-tipping Strategy 2024-2029

We are proud of where we live, and tackling fly-tipping is a key priority to keep Merton’s streets clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. The Fly-tipping Strategy 2024-2029 sets out our commitment to reducing fly-tipping through prevention, enforcement, and collaboration.

This strategy outlines how we will:
  • Prevent fly-tipping by making it easier for residents and businesses to dispose of waste responsibly.
  • Enforce against offenders using fines and prosecutions to deter illegal dumping.
  • Work with communities to promote civic pride and tackle fly-tipping hotspots together.

Fly-tipping is a criminal offence that harms our environment and diverts resources away from essential public services. Through a data-led approach and strong partnerships with residents, businesses, and local organisations, we are determined to make a lasting impact.

This strategy builds on our Building a Better Merton Together plan and aligns with our Climate Action and Strategy Plan, ensuring that our public spaces remain clean and welcoming for all.
