Merton’s Youth Parliament allows young people in Merton to have a say on how we can make Merton a better place to live, study and socialise.
You can become a member of the Youth Parliament if you live or study in Merton and are aged between 11 and 19 years old, or up to 25 years old if you have a disability. Being part of Merton’s Youth Parliament will give you the opportunity to:
- Meet and work with new people, including other young people from Merton
- Share your views, ideas and experiences about improving things for all young people in Merton
- Gain new skills
Youth Parliament members meet once a month in Morden and come from across Merton’s community to ensure all young people are represented. We are currently not looking for new members, however you can keep up to date with their work by following them on Instagram using the handle @merton_youth_parliament.
You can also contact the Participation and Engagement team by e-mailing them on youth.participation@merton.gov.uk.
Previous Youth Parliament activities include
- Visit to Houses of Parliament in Westminster
- Facilitating a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style funding pitch
- Taking part in Merton Council’s first Takeover Day
- Shaping campaigns run by Merton Council
- Meetings with senior leaders and Councillors
