Burglar and fire alarms

We can look into complaints about alarms if:

  • the alarm has been ringing continuously for more than 20 minutes
  • the alarm has been ringing intermittently for more than an hour
  • the alarm sounds frequently and causes a noise nuisance.

Car alarms

We can look into complaints about car alarms if:

  • the alarm has been sounding continuously for more than 5 minutes,
  • the alarm has been sounding intermittently for more than an hour, or
  • if it sounds frequently and causes a noise nuisance.

Report it

Report noise or nuisance

In most cases we carry out any enforcement action required on the same or next working day, Monday to Friday.

If your property has an alarm

If your property has an alarm, you can help yourself and your neighbours by making sure it is well maintained and has a working cut-off device that stops it sounding after 20 minutes.

In addition, we strongly recommend that you notify your neighbours or family of any keyholders so that they can contact someone in the event of a fault.
