The vibrant and diverse London Borough of Merton has a population of over 200,000 residents living in 80,000 households, covering Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Morden, Raynes Park and Wimbledon.
Merton is home to the world-famous Wimbledon Tennis Championships bringing an extra 500,000 people into the borough each summer. Be involved with some of south London’s most exciting events.
Merton is on a mission to become London’s Borough of Sport, and our free, flagship resident sports festival returns in 2025. Big Sports Day – the biggest event of its kind in London – is produced alongside 75 sports clubs and organisations and inspires residents of all ages to connect with sport and wellbeing activities into the future. Attendance is in excess of 10,000 people, with a digital advertising reach of 150,000 residents, and local and regional media coverage.
We’re bringing communities together for a month-long, whole borough celebration of Merton past, present and future. Featuring a programme of pop-up cultural and creative activities across all town centres in Merton – as well as in schools and community venues. The borough’s roads, streets and public spaces will be dressed to impress for this party. A large-scale festival will take place on the May bank holiday weekend - with music, dance, pop-up theatre performances, food, and more, to an expected audience of 10,000 residents.
Every November at Morden Park and Wimbledon Park are two of the biggest and best-loved fireworks shows in London, often featuring in national and regional TV coverage. Attendance is in excess of 40,000 people with hundreds of thousands of viewers of digital and print event marketing.
Legendary event that has been running in Mitcham for hundreds of years. This free and much-loved community event is a firm fixture in the borough’s community events’ calendar. The 2025 event promises to be bigger and better than ever with a mile-long street parade. Attendance is in excess of 10,000 people and with an advertising campaign reach of 120,000.
