Providing your complaint relates to a food business or food purchased or consumed within the borough of Merton we can investigate or offer advice in relation to complaints about:
- Items of food purchased at restaurants, takeaways and retail shops
- Poor standards of hygiene or practices at food premises
- Allegations that food has caused illness or food poisoning
- Foreign bodies (items that should not be in food)
- Chemical or metallic contamination
- Sale of mouldy, stale, rancid or out of date food
- Sale of counterfeit or illegally substituted foods and drink
- Incorrect or misleading labels on food
Although we cannot investigate complaints about food purchased or a premises located outside the borough, we can offer advice and provide details of the relevant council to contact.
