- At the post office
To check your balance please use the online Business Rates Account Balance Enquiry tool.
Instalments
Your Business Rates bill is issued in April each year. It is split into ten monthly payments (instalments), payable from April to January, unless you have chosen to pay in twelve instalments, or to pay in full in April. Your payment must reach us on or before the first day of each month.
If you get a bill part way through the year, you will be required to pay your bill in fewer instalments. The number of instalments will depend on when your bill is sent to you.
Direct debit
This is the method of payment the council prefers you to use, as it is the most efficient and cost effective way to collect Business Rates. This method helps to keep our administration costs down. You have reassurance of the direct debit guarantee which is shown on the mandate.
- You can ring us with your bank details on 020 8545 3919, to set up a direct debit
- You can also download and complete a direct debit mandate.
- You can also sign up for electronic billing
Credit or debit card
These cards can be used to pay in three different ways.
- Pay Business Rates online
- By phoning the credit / debit card payment line on 0300 4560504.
- By post, please send the request to the address below.
BACS, telephone or internet banking
You will need the following information.
- Bank account name: LBM Head Office account (Business Rates),
- Sort Code: 30-00-00
- Account number: 05394651
- Business Rates reference number - this is on your bill, it is an eight digit number that starts with a '6'
At the post office
You will need to present your Business Rates bill because it contains a bar code on the first page which is used for payment.
You can pay by cash, cheque or debit card - cheques should be made payable to 'Post Office Counters'. There will be no charge for the payment.
It can take up to seven working days for a payment made at a post office to reach the council, you will need to allow for this especially if your payment has not been paid on the date due.
