A Brush with the Past
Wimbledon Museum and Common Works Gallery present a new art exhibition exploring Wimbledon Common past and present.

31st January to 30th March 2025
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2:30 to 5pm

Ten contemporary artists have each drawn inspiration from works of art in the museum’s collection. The result is a vivid connection between past and present, bringing new life to scenes captured by past painters and offering visitors a fascinating variety of views of the Common’s timeless landscape.

Children’ will be given a sketch booklet and pencil to create their own pictures inspired by what they see and there are two sketching sessions to join, one for families and one for adults. After your visit, take a walk on the common and keep an eye out for the sights that inspired the art. Don't forget to share your artists' creations with the museum too!

Merton Partership Civic Pride Volunteer Awards
The Merton Partnership Civic Pride Volunteer Awards have shone a spotlight on the incredible people who make our borough a better place. This year marks a special 10th milestone as we come together once again to honour the volunteers who give their time, energy, and passion to support local causes, uplift their communities, and inspire positive change.

From dedicated volunteers giving decades of service to young changemakers at the start of their journey, these awards celebrate the heart of Merton; the people who give their time to make it a better place to live, work and thrive.

The evening will be a prestigious celebration of civic pride, bringing together community leaders, volunteers, and supporters for an unforgettable occasion. Those shortlisted will be invited to a three-course dinner and awards ceremony, where the winners will be presented with their awards by the Mayor of Merton in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

This year, nine award categories highlight the diverse ways volunteers enrich our borough, from championing environmental sustainability to leading sports teams, mentoring young people, and dedicating decades of service. Each nominee represents the very best of our community, and this event is our way of saying thank you.

Generously sponsored by CHAK89, this anniversary event will be a true celebration of the spirit of Merton. If you know someone whose efforts deserve to be recognised, now is the time to nominate them and ensure they receive the appreciation they so rightly deserve.

Join Merton Connected in honouring the people who give so much to our community. Submit your nominations before the 25th of April and be part of this landmark event. bit.ly/ThankAVolunteer

Sisters 360
Saturday 22 March - Sunday 27 April

Recommended for ages 8-12

Fatima and Salima are the closest, coolest, hijabi step-sisters in all of Bradford and they will win the Tiny is Mighty skateboarding competition, there is no doubt about it.

They’ve practised every trick in the book, and look (almost) as good as Sky Brown on the telly, just check out their YouTube Channel if you’re not convinced. Nothing will stop them. Except their parents have started whispering in the kitchen about living apart… about moving to different cities… only seeing each other in school holidays. How will they perfect their routine and win gold if their whole lives are about to turn 360 too? Only the greatest super plan ever concocted will help them achieve their dreams.

Inspired by real-life skateboarding sisters Layna, Maysa and Amaya, and their hero Olympic Medallist Sky Brown.

A brand-new production written by Asif Khan.
