Active Involvement in Research: in person event
Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South London's annual Active Involvement in Research events bring together patients, service users, carers and local people, researchers, health and care professionals and organisations, in south London and beyond.

The theme this year is: 'Improving health and care in south London, shaping future research.'

For several years, ARC South London has carried out research on how various types of health and social care might be improved and inequalities tackled.

Staff, public contributors, community and other partners have worked hard to successfully understand and achieve change for local people who experience a range of issues. This includes those with multiple conditions and those facing disadvantage and discrimination which affects their wellbeing. But many south Londoners are still at risk and face barriers to getting the treatment and support they need.

This year, Active Involvement in Research will look at:

- What the focus of future work should be from April 2026 to March 2031, if funding is available
- How can we, our community and other partners build on local strengths and direct limited resources to address current challenges in useful ways? This includes not duplicating what other research teams and organisations are doing or have done
- How can we further develop active involvement, and recognise the value of lived experience, in future research?

This is the second of two events. It will be held online on 18 November 2024 and follow on from the in person event on 13 November.

You are welcome to join us at either or both events to hear about thinking to date and share your own views, which will help to shape future research. Further information will follow, but places are limited so it is advisable to book early.

Attendance is free and all are welcome.

To find out more about the event, please email involvement coordinator savitri.hensman@kcl.ac.uk.

You can also visit www.arc-sl.nihr.ac.uk

Please note: payments will be made to public members who have an agreed role.
