The SENDAP Strategy is a document that is reviewed every 3 years and outlines how the local area will meet the needs of local children with SEND and their families. SENDAP stands for Special Educational Needs or Disabilities and Alternative Provision. It has been designed in collaboration with parents, carers, children, and professionals, and includes the local area’s three main priorities for children and young people with SEND who are living, working, or being educated in Merton:

  • Children and young people receive the right support at the right time.
  • Children and young people are enabled to learn skills that will enable them to lead lives that are as independent as they wish.
  • Children, young people, families, and professionals listen to each other, communicate effectively, and work together for shared understanding.

An annual action plan will sit under the SENDAP Strategy to track how the local area is focusing and progressing on its three priorities.

The strategy also includes information about local services and organisations who can help, as well as how they are funded.
